These are the first five prompts from our Indie Game Launch Kit, from the stage about a year before launch when you're deciding how to pitch the game and building its Steam page. They help you answer the question every store page has to answer in seconds: what is this, and why would a fan of a game I already love want it?

Run them in order. The positioning and hook prompts give you the one-line pitch. Comparable-games research and tag strategy tie it to what players already search for, and the name check catches weak or confusable titles early. Replace the <angle-bracket> placeholders with real details, since the output is only as specific as what you give it.

AI assistants misremember release dates, prices and review counts for other games, so the research prompts tell the model to mark facts it's unsure of. Verify them on SteamDB or the Steam store before you use them. The full kit has 65 prompts across a 12-month timeline, plus a Steam page checklist, Next Fest playbook, outreach templates and tracker CSVs.

# Steam page prompts (free starter)

Five prompts for positioning your game and planning its Steam page. Replace `<angle brackets>` with your details. They work in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok or any assistant. Check any fact a prompt asks the AI to recall (release dates, prices, review counts of other games) on SteamDB or the Steam store before you rely on it.

## 1. Positioning statement
```
My game: <one-paragraph description>. Three closest comparable games on Steam: <list>. Write five positioning statements in the form 'For players who loved <comp>, <game> is a <genre> that <unique hook>.' Rank them by how clearly a stranger would understand them in five seconds, and explain the top pick.
```

## 2. Find the hook
```
Here is my feature list: <list>. Which single feature would make a fan of <comp> stop scrolling? Rewrite it as a hook under 12 words. Give five versions, from literal to playful.
```

## 3. Comparable games research
```
List 10 Steam games similar to <description> released in the last three years. For each, give the release year, price, the visible review count range and what its store page leads with. Mark any facts you are unsure of. I will verify them on SteamDB.
```

## 4. Tag strategy
```
My game: <description>. Comparable games: <list>. Propose 15 Steam tags in priority order. The first five should be the ones a fan of my top comp would search. Explain each choice in one line.
```

## 5. Name check
```
Candidate names: <list>. For each: how memorable and searchable is it, could it be confused with existing games (I will verify), and what does it suggest about the genre? Suggest three alternatives if all are weak.
```
