Three free copy-paste prompts that get an AI coding agent out of fix loops: stop and reproduce, break the loop with logging, and fix with a minimal diff.

These are the first three prompts from our Vibe Debug pack. Use them when an agent keeps changing code without fixing the bug. They don't depend on a particular tool, so you can paste them into Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot Chat, Codex or any other coding agent.
Use them in order. "Stop and reproduce" makes the agent describe the bug and rank likely causes before it touches code. "Break the loop" makes it revert, add logging and look at real values before proposing a single fix. "Minimal diff" keeps the fix from growing into a refactor.
Replace the <angle-bracket> placeholders with your details before you send. The full pack adds seven more prompts for production-only failures, auth, bad data, dependency conflicts, proving a fix works, fresh-eyes summaries and rollback plans.

## 1. Stop and reproduce
"Stop changing code. First, explain the exact steps to reproduce this bug, what should happen, and what actually happens. Then list the 3 most likely root causes ranked by probability, and for each, the one check that would confirm or rule it out. Don't fix anything yet."
## 2. Break the loop
"You've tried to fix this <N> times and it still fails. Revert all changes since <commit/last working state>. Add logging around <area> that prints the actual values of <inputs/state>. Run it, show me the output, and only then propose ONE fix with your reasoning."
## 3. Minimal diff
"Fix this with the smallest possible diff. Do not refactor, rename, reformat or 'improve' anything else. Show me the diff before applying it."
